In my experience, ALAN GORDON is the best acting teacher in NYC today. I've
worked with a number of them and no one
I've worked with has his insight'passion patience or intelligence. He doesn't try to change who you are'rather he teachers each individual to work from themselves. He's concise, gets to the point and provides constructtive criticism and brings a sense of joy to the work I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great acting teacher JAMES FUNGHINI

I consider myself very blessed to have found Alan Gordon, he has everything you can expect from an acting teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable, passionate, articulated, incredible generous, devoted, patient, honest, respectful, fun, caring… he is simply brilliant! From my first class, I knew that I was dealing with a special kind of professional and human being. What makes the difference in this business is to find a coach that is passionate enough to inspire you and that has experience and knowledge enough to help you to be the best you can be. You can find hundreds of teachers and acting classes in NYC, especially expensive and pretentious ones, but finding a honest professional that can work with you in a consistent way and that really cares about your learning process is a different story.
I am a big fan of Alan, nobody masters Meisner Technique better than him. I wish every acting student could have a chance to experience one of his classes. If your goal is to achieve excellence as an actor and you have an opportunity to have Alan as your teacher, don’t waste it, take advantage of it as much as you can, you will have the privilege of studying with the finest acting teacher in NYC

wow where do i begin..i will say that studying with Alan can be the liberating, joyus, as well as frightening experince one can imagine..the technique of meisner has to be the genuis of creativity as far as acting is concerned and it the year and a half that i spent with him i learned soo much of what it takes to be not only an actor but also to be an honest being who is able and willing to not be ashamed of who you are but to also "leave yourself alone" and "be connected with yourself and your partner" and for that i am greatful.
so if you want to either learn the craft of TRUE ACTING or if you are already an actor who has years of experience but wants to take your talent to the next level then I highly recommend Alan Gordon!

Alan Gordon is the best teacher I have ever had. He one of the more truer and sincere teachers, and people, I've been fortunate to know. He teaches in a very nurturing environment, and makes sure you get to where you need to be. He takes the time to make sure you understand your craft and make you a better performer. If you are just starting out or want to really improve your performing skills, Alan is the man who can help you greatly!

Alan Gordon is the real deal. With so many bogus acting teachers of dubious distinction popping up everywhere these days, Alan is a life preserver for actors in a sea of fakers. He not only has an encyclopedic knowlege of actors and acting, he has a grasp of technique and a practical approach to the craft that can serve both the beginner and the veteran actor. Alan's a NYer, so there's no nonsense, no pretense. And Alan's an actor, not just a teacher. He's walked the same mean streets that all actors walk. So what you get with Alan is straightforward instruction to make you the best and most honest actor you can be.

Alan is as good as it gets. His skill, integrity, humor, deep knowledge and commonsense approach make it both pleasurable and very productive to work with him. Alan coached me and unquestionably played a huge role in my getting many jobs on and off Broadway, on network series, in top regional theaters, and major feature films. Many of the most important roles I booked were through our working together and my trusting him completely. He's also one of the good guys in this business: he's not in it for his ego or to make money without giving it his all. He does this work because he's a true teacher in spirit and a passionate believer in the importance of this craft.

I've been studying with Alan for just shy of a year now and he has helped me grow exponentially as an actor. He has a wealth of knowledge of the craft as well as the industry. Alan is a wonderful teacher who loves to see his students grow. He has always been encouraging and patient, but more importantly, he has always been truthful in his assessment of your progress and skill level. I look forward to Wednesday classes every week, as they are a time when I am laughing, learning, and gathering inspiration from the talent surrounding me. Not only is Alan an incredibly talented actor and teacher, but he has become a mentor to myself, and someone who's opinon I hold in high regard. Above all, Alan has motivated me to push myself; to strive to fullfill my internal driving force that propells me towards becoming a better actor.

As a working actor on both coasts, what more can i say about Alan that hasnt been said already. He has to be one of the finest acting teachers in the world today. What makes Alan stand head and shoulder above the rest for me is his sincere and genuine interest in his students. He cares about them as people, not just pupils foremost.Ive been lucky enough to work with some of Alans graduates and students and they are always prepared, professional, and supremely talented! If you can get a chance to study with,or even just spend a little quality time with Alan, you will be the better for it!

There's so much glam and ego in the business today, it's hard to get to the point. It's a rarity that a coach puts his ego to the side and does just that.
A great teacher takes time to understand your strengths and weaknesses. They show you how to improve without beating you down and inspire the best within you.
Alan knows this business inside and out. He knows the craft and he'll give it to you straight. You're range and your presence will expand to places you never thought they could go. You and your character will be natural, fully rendered and most importantly "alive" up on that stage or in front of that camera.
Whether you're brand new to the world of acting or a veteran of the stage and screen, Alan has something that will vastly improve your game. His patience and ability will give you insight into how the masters kill it and kill it every time.

I find my acting coach Alan Gordan to be a man of sincerity, and integrity. He gets to the heart of the matter, and is sensitive to everyone's concerns and feelings. He has helped me a great deal in bringing out my "truth" and speak from the gut. I've been in the biz awhile now, and consider Alan to be one of the finest coaches I've ever had!

My son John has been working with Alan for over three years. Alan has significantly improved John's ability to become a better actor. His attention to detail and dialouge between John and fellow actors on stage is remarkable. Alan was very instrumental in helping John get into Laguardia High school for the Performing Arts. Where he is now a Drama Major. John has been very lucky to have Alan in his life. He is not been just an acting coach and mentor to John but a great friend to us all.

Alan Gordon’s skills as an acting teacher goes beyond his incredible ability at analyzing a script, breaking down a scene or even getting at the truth of a moment. He truly loves what he does and that carries into his teaching with enthusiasm, great communication and solid instruction. Half the battle of going into an audition is won because I have received the confidence and knowledge that Alan has given me.

Our company loves Alan. We send all our Adult Actors to him to learn to be honest, moment-to-moment actors. He's passionate and caring and his prices are extremely reasonable. Actually, too low.
Actors Technique NY loves Alan and we're happy to be associated with him.

I have known Alan for several years now and I am very impressed with the time and effort he gives to his students. He is caring and gives straight from the heart. Always willing to share and lend a hand. Recently, my writing partner (Charles Messina) and I asked Alan if he would assist us in a read through for a project we were developing titled "Twas The Night Before A Brooklyn Christmas." He, along with several students, gave their time, effort and acting talents to us as we were molding this screenplay into it's final stages. I want to thank Alan and his acting class for that.

Alan's private sessions provide an invaluable advantage in auditioning and preparing to perform roles. He allows the actor to bring themselves to the role, and then begins the coaching and character development from that essential starting point. He incorporates his extensive knowledge of the Meisner Technique into his instruction on identifying beat changes, capturing the reader and acting organically. Each time I coached with Alan, I was called back for second and third auditions. He is a master of the craft.

I wanted to rate The Alan Gordon Acting Studio with 12 stars, but I'm only able to give him 5 on this site, so I'll settle for that. If you are searching for an acting class, your search is now over! Alan is a blessing to my acting career! I wish I met him years ago before I ever stepped into an audition room! I thought I knew what I was doing then, but Alan as shown me that I didn't know jack! I've learned so much from his classes and his style of teachings is so simply even a caveman could learn from him. But no seriously, I'm so thankful for his acting classes. I am a stronger actor because of The Alan Gordon Acting Studio. I'm not getting paid or anything to write this review, this is all from my heart. This is the class you need if you are serious about your acting career. One day I will be accepting an award for acting, and I will thank God for Alan Gordon.

Alan is by far the most courteous and honest teacher in the industry. He gives you all of his knowledge and all of him self so that you can learn Meisner in its true form with no strings attached. He gives a 1000 % to each and every student. You will always leave his class learning something you could not have been taught in any other setting. He is the most phenemonal person to learn from beacause He brings out the very best and strives to help you achieve your most truthful performance..

Since working with Alan and learning his techniques of breaking down a script, I have feel that I've been much more honest & grounded as an actor. His technique has really helped to free me on stage and in doing so I have finally started to trust in myself to be truly open. He sincerely cares about making you the best actor you can be!

By far, and I sincerely mean this, by far, Alan Gordon is one of the best acting teachers in new york city.. if not the best! I am not saying this to get any points either. I have spent enough time and money on learning my craft... You name them and I have probably studied or at least audited their class and Alan is top of the line. He is honest! I repeat, Alan is honest!!! Alan is not into stroking the actors ego. Alan is also gentle enough to communicate effectively. I feel honored to receive training from Alan and I am always looking forward to the next class. Alan is a diamond and a class act. I am confident that I will be successful in this business thanks to Alan Gordon and a few others in my corner. James Hunter :)

I've been working with Alan Gordon for a couple of years and I am truly blessed to have met with him and to be working with not only a great acting coach, but someone who is truly passionate about his craft, his work, and is extremely dedicated to what he does and puts his heart and soul into everything he does. Alan offers so much to his students: a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment, honest yet helpful critique that helps benefit your skills as an actor, patience, and lots and lots and lots of encouragement that makes you want to keep moving forward and take risks as an artist.
Alan not only has helps me to become a better performer, but he's also inspires me to be enthusiastic about my work, understand what it takes to be a solid actor, and how to achieve what it is I want and need to deliver a natural, clean yet powerful performance with each unique character I bring to the table. I have no idea how he does it, because he is truly gifted as both an actor, himself, and a coach.
If you're looking for a someone who will do all he can to help you achieve your goals, I strongly encourage you to work with Alan Gordon, and I know for sure, whoever is reading this, you WILL have an amazing experience. He is truly the best you will find in New York City or any city.

If you want your work as an actor to be natural, honest, meaningful and powerful, then you want to work with Alan. He is insightful, caring, to-the-point, knowledgable and experienced. He's also just a great human being.
I started studying and working with Alan Gordon in 2008. Since that time I have seen my work as an actor and director grow and blossom. I came to Alan after years of academic training (BFA and MFA), and he taught me things in a matter of weeks that I had failed to learn in seven years of formal actor training. He put me in touch with my impulses, taught me how to approach and analyze a script, and made my work great.
