I've been a member of TAN since 2006. I love this place!

My favorite thing is that you can tell that the guests really want to be there. They are just showing up for a check. They truly want to help actors. I've met so many amazing casting directors, writers, agents, managers, and teacher in the 5 years I've been a member.

And just recently they did a series of Q&As with people who are running for the SAG board. It was a great way to get educated about the issues and to ask the candidates any lingering questions.

If nothing else, everyone should attend a free orientation. Make the decision for yourself, but I feel like most will see the same value in membership that I have.

While they have a lot of info to give out.. I found them to be narrow minded in their point of view. And a couple things they advised actually turned out to be the opposite.
Also very rude. I felt that was unprofessional and as a result decided not to stay. I've since got some great advice from other industry professionals that have really helped my career.

The Actor’s Network is an incredible organization that every actor needs to at least try for a month. I don’t say that lightly.

When I first moved out here, I was from New York and I thought, What the Fuck? I don’t need anyone’s help! My awesome talent and work ethic are gonna tear through this town.

WRONG.

The hard thing about being an actor is the stints of loneliness. Don’t lie! You know you’ve felt it. You get an audition, you prepare, you drive out there, headshot in sweaty hand, do your work, and drive home.

We do this work because we like connection. We like to feel connected to people and to society and to art and creation. But so much of it is spent on our own. By our own juice. By our own momentum and our own sheer will, to get off the couch, put on your pajamas and do the fucking drop off.

The Actors Network is a place of hard working people who can come together and support and cheer and keep others accountable. It’s a rare place where you can find community.

Oh and they have speakers and topicals and QnAs and Kevin is the shit and you can meet people and hear honest opinions from industry people and you can get guidance on how to navigate this enormous thing called a career.

And you’re not by yourself.

Wow, where would I be without The Actor's Network? I found them about 2 years ago and everything changed. I have learned so much about the business side of acting from this place, which they never taught me in my entire time of getting a BA in Theatre. I am so much more business savy and less vulnerable as a person trying to get their career off the ground in a city full of people trying to take my money to "break into the business". I highly recommend going to the free orientation to check it out. This place is a godsend. If you do join, do yourself a favor and join a power group. It really warp speeded me into getting things accomplished and working smarter.

I did a SUPER thorough review of TAN on my blog here: http://wp.me/pDW7W-mu

But basically, TAN is AMAZING. I liken it to grad school for the working actor (at $50/month). Seriously, it's by far the best thing I've done for my career since moving to Los Angeles. Join like yesterday.

The great aspect of this organization is the motto "help us help you... help all of us." In order to taking advantage of all that there is to offer, you must first put in the work which I have been guilty as an actor not committing myself to.

Yet I stepped up my level of activity when I joined the network as it served to be me accountable for my career. Providing resources, guest speakers and experiences to best equip you in being an actor in LA. They also help demystify certain perception on how LA works as well as training you to avoid scams and heartaches.

The Actors' Network (TAN) is outstanding. I've been a member for three years. The industry guests, topical seminars, power groups as well as a tremendous resource library and website help to make it easier, a more efficient experience for all actors. TAN tends to attract serious and highly supportive actors. It's not a school or a workshop. However, every time I attend an event, I walk away with a new perspective and consideration about the industry (and our place in it as actors) that I can immediately put to use. The only regret that I have is that I waited two years before checking it out back in the day.

This is a really neat place. They provide numerous resources like a full library including all the latest copies of major trades such as Back Stage and Variety, and up to date listings of industry people like agents, managers, and casting directors. And that isn't all. They have industry guests, topical discussions, power groups, and guests providing actor services. Plus, it's simply a greatly supportive company. The benefits are too numerous to fit here. You have to pay to join but it's a lot less than an acting class here and you get way more for your money.

It's like grad school for the business side of acting in LA.... but a lot less expensive.
