I signed up for month to month membership almost two years ago. After about 8 months I left LA for awhile. Before I left I cancelled my membership. Even though I cancelled they still kept all of my past auditions on file and I can still go in and watch all of them.

Being able to watch past auditions is awesome! I can see where I rocked and I can see where I would do something differently the next time. And there were many next times. I got called in for a ton of auditions, even more than I was able to actually attend. And I booked a few as well. They weren't paying gigs, but as somebody just getting started here it has been a great opportunity to get into low-stakes, real audition situations and work out the kinks. I've also made some great working relationships and friendships through some of the projects I booked.

I like that they always send an email after an audition. They're on top of it. It's great to get home and see an email from Cazt. And they send me more projects that are being cast.

And......!!!! They have paper slicers, staplers and computers with internet. That's just great. And yeah post above, clean bathrooms.

I only had one problem with a "casting director" he was very racist but it was not CAZT's who did it. This people are nice, you are not obligated to buy, I am a working actor and I know many friends working after auditioning at CAZT. I auditioned for a few big budget projects there. It is free for the casting directors, they always say yes to them. The parking sucks :)

SCAM! You give the C.D. your email address and CAZT scum solicit you to view your audition tape -- but THEN they charge you and keep stealing your money saying you're a member being automatically renewed even though all you wanted to do was pay to view the audition tape.

I noticed that they changed their policy to prevent people from just paying for that service and made it so you're doing a monthly subscription so they can screw you over.

They refuse to refund your money. So I filed a complaint with the FTC which I urge everyone to do. Maybe then they'll smarten up or be shut down they way they should be.

Any company that is totally UNREACHABLE by phone and takes more than 2 days to respond to an email (if at all) is up to something. Their phone rings twice then immediately disconnects you EVERY time.

I will NEVER go to an audition at this place ever again.

Never give these people your credit card. They claim I renewed my service when I absolutely have not. They've charged me 4 times "erroneously" now and refuse to refund. SCAM.

Are there any other services that let actors watch their own audition videos?

I found CAZT on craigslist. I feel like I was never getting called in through the normal sites. It was for a student film that was casting there. I submitted and got called in for an audition. Then they started sending me a bunch of job listings so I joined and now I would say I get most of my auditions through them. Seems pretty forward how they do things, but it works great for me.

I submit myself for a couple of projects every day and i get called in for auditions about at least once a week. CAZT is amazing. I've booked 3 jobs through it and met a bunch of great casting directors. I would give it 10 stars.

I used CAZT for a project we were holding auditions for. We were going to pay for a place to use until we stumbled upon CAZT. We were intrigued because as you know for filmmakers it is free to use. You are required to give feedback for all of the actors who audition for you. Which I think is awesome since we are all actors as well as Writers/Producers. So we had no problem giving feedback.

So I made my first visit to CAZT today and due to the overwhelming amount of debate regarding whether or not this place is a scam, I decided to offer up my own humble opinion. Mind you, I'm not an actor, but do work in entertainment and was only at CAZT in support of a friend of mine that was doing her first audition since moving here from NYC. So here it goes...

CAZT is a great BUSINESS and SERVICE to both producers and actors [period] It offers producers and casting directors a place to source talent without draining budget. This is especially important for waiters, aka up-and-coming actors that, as a result, are given more opportunities to audition because it's not costing productions more than their time and because their facilities and services are free to the production, CAZT is allowed to ask that casting directors do certain things they wouldn't otherwise do, like provide feedback on EVERY person that auditions (even the really shitty ones). A HUGE service to our "up-and-comer" that might discover before 40 that they're not cut out to be an actor.

I'm sure there's a host of other free services, but I'll get to the paid service, which many people seem to be referring to as a scam!?! As I understand it, people who audition are given the opportunity to pay a membership fee in return for access to video of their auditions, casting director feedback and access to additional casting calls/postings. This service isn't required to audition or win a gig... that burden still falls on the talent. So I'm not really sure where the scam is?

So to my original point, this seems like a solid BUSINESS that offers value to everyone that chooses to partake in their unique services. The only problem I see is that actors and yes actresses too, can behave like narcissistic children and CATZ is enabling that fact

I too really wish I could give this place a 0! It's difficult enough finding auditions without having to pay a high monthly cost so every now and then, I scroll through Craigslist. Sometimes, there is some good stuff posted. What do ya know, CAZT religiously posts FAKE castings on CL and if you want to submit, you have to pay. PLEASE someone shut this place down. So tacky and pathetic.

These guys are posting casting calls on Craigslist and trying to get actors to join their service. How tacky and lame.

All of these listings are CAZT. Horrible.

I've auditioned for about 15 roles there and just landed my first one. I see that they just started giving away the comments from casting directors for free which is great too. All in all i dig the vibe.

Auditioned there like 5 times over the last 6 months. I got a couple of callbacks. I joined to watch one of my videos and then I quit. And now I'm kicking myself because i have another audition video that I want to watch and i can't decide if I should join up again.

Of all the auditions I've done here I've never once booked or even been called back. And I do get call backs elsewhere. So I really can't say for sure if the auditions are real. My gut says NO I'm sad to say.

Hey guys - This is Moses Kagan - am one of the owners of CAZT and wanted to take a second to respond to some of the feedback above.

1. We never, ever sell or share anyone's email addresses or other info, ever. It's not worth wrecking our reputation and all we've worked for a few dollars.

2. We continue to try to make CAZT a really useful service for actors. We've literally got thousands of actors who watch their videos and read feedback. Baseball players watch themselves hit. Basketball players use video to improve their shots. Why shouldn't actors see their auditions?!

3. We're totally approachable all the time. My email address is moses@cazt.com - if you have issues or suggestions, get in touch! Also, my sister-in-law, Emelye, runs the studio, so please feel free to share your thoughts with her, as well.

One more thought occurred to me:

It's true we offer space to productions for free. The productions that use us range from student films and webisodes up through Eastbound & Down and Reno 911.

By giving clean, professional space away to productions, we aim to do two things (both of which are good for actors): 1. Improve the professionalism of the lower end productions, many of which would cast in much worse space if we didn't exist, and 2. Because, we lowering the cost of production, we increase the amount of production in LA.

So auditions are better and more plentiful b/c of CAZT.

That seems like a good thing, right? Thanks for reading!

Moses

Guys, this is not so complicated. CAZT supplies a free space to casting directors (usually small projects) and they make their money by trying to convince actors to sign up to watch their auditions online. Just don't sign up for the service and it's completely free for you and them. I have auditioned here many times and booked gigs out of CAZT. Yes, they send you an e-mail after every audition to try and get you to sign up for their service. Big deal. It's easy, clean, there are bathrooms, and there's street parking in nearby neighborhoods. For low-budget casting, it's fine.

i had what i thought was a legit audition here only to be met with emails telling me i could watch my audition and get feedback online for a fee. i was furious. i've also gotten spam from unheard of film/production companies so i'm pretty damn sure they sold or at least passed on my info. THEY SUCK!!!

Though I have known people who cast here, they themselves just use it as a space rather than take advantage of the service to review your audition. Do not sign up for the service but do audition here when you get a chance, if for nothing else experience and you can usually find free parking.

not a fan of this place. great deal for people who are casting on small budgets; not so great for the actors... they seem to prey on potential egoism/insecurities with their feedback ploy.

Can I rate this place a 0? I've been called to audition there a few times and finally decided that I wouldn't any more. Once you audition, the emails start... They want you to sign up and pay so you can view your audition and have to chance to redo your audition and get feedback from the CD. Umm... no. I know my talent. Once I'm done with the audition, I leave it behind and don't dwell on it. If I don't get cast, it's because I didn't fit their vision of the project after all. It's not because of anything wrong that I did. Actors second guess themselves enough. Getting to "redo" the audition just leaves one a big mess.

Of all the people I have talked to, no one has ever received a callback or gotten cast in anything that's auditioned there. I've asked them numerous times to remove me from their mailing list, but they still spam me. I really think this place is nothing more than a scam to try to bilk $$ from the pockets of poor actors, most of whom are just skirting by on their bills and trying to make ends meet.

Shame on CATZ and scams like it.

Honestly this place kind of bums me out. They want you to pay to view your auditions and then see what the CD said about you. That seems like it would be rad if the CDs they had in there were big time, but they are usually folks just starting out or on low/no budgets which is why they cast there as the space doesn't charge CDs and producers for sessions. Interesting idea, but just another thing actors have to shell out money for. Not sure about this one.
